For those with a more adventurous nature, a trip to Carlingford Adventure Centre in Louth offers the opportunity for thrill-seekers to try zorbing, rock-climbing or abseiling. Zipit in Tibradden, Dublin, is a treetop high-ropes forest adventure park where you can climb high into the treetops and move along platforms, rope bridges, swinging logs and cargo nets before zipping through the tree canopy on a zipline. Watersport enthusiasts are spoilt for choice, with an abundance of opportunities for sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and kitesurfing along the coast. Away from the bustle of the towns and cities, the east offers the perfect landscape for cycling, whether it’s a leisurely trip along the cycleway from Clontarf to Su on in Dublin (8.5kilometres) or a full day's cycling around the Blessington Lakes, WicklowMountains and Glendalough Valley. The spectacular scenery of the mountains, lakes and valleys of the region gives way to beautiful beaches all along the east coast. Clogherhead in County Louth boasts stunning views, miles of sand and a water adventure centre. Laytown beach in Meath is the venue for the annual Laytown Races which take place on the beach in September. Skerries beach & Portmarnock’s Velvet Strand in north county Dublin offer excellent swimming opportunities, while Killiney beach in the south of the county is a hidden gem. Wicklow’s Bri as Bay has long been a favourite among families and the nearby Silver Strand, with its smooth sands and electric green water, is unforge able. For a day out with the family, some of the most popular a ractions are Dublin Zoo in the Phoenix Park and Tayto Park in County Meath, a theme park and zoo rolled into one. Why not extend your trips?
